PRESS RELEASE | Ogletree Deakins Promotes Paul Clair to Partner In France

   |   News

To mark its eighth anniversary in France, Ogletree Deakins takes a significant step forward by now having eight partners with the promotion of Paul Clair, embodying the new generation of talented, human, and committed lawyers that the firm aims to highlight.

The Strength of a United, Agile, and Ambitious Team

Team spirit is the foundation upon which Ogletree has built itself in France since 2017.

The firm’s ambition is clear: to become a leading reference in employment law in France. This ambition is driven by meticulous attention to the cases handled and the management of complex issues, through a comprehensive offering that covers the entire spectrum of employment law and beyond (internal investigations, supplementary social protection, GDPR and HR data management, employment law applied to the public sector, etc.).

Based in Paris, Lyon, Nantes, and Bordeaux, Ogletree now has over 40 professionals, all united around its partners to promote the firm’s values shared globally by its 59 offices in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Eight Years of Continuous Growth in France

Ambition, determination, and “a lot of hard work,” as founding partner Jean-Marc Albiol likes to emphasize, have allowed Ogletree to stand out among the few firms in the market to consistently achieve double-digit organic growth each year, strengthening its position in the French employment law market. Cécile Martin, Managing Partner of Ogletree, is delighted: “The expansion and diversification of our client base in France are the result of leveraging our internal resources and strengthening our senior team. Since joining three years ago, Paul Clair has demonstrated a commitment and expertise in employment law that have had a significant impact on our clients. Our collective of partners is pleased to see one of its talents take on major responsibilities.

Paul shares this team spirit: “I am very happy and proud to join partners and a team that have succeeded in building an ambitious and high-performing firm in the service of clients. It is also and above all a great human adventure because the human element is essential in our practice of employment law. I am very enthusiastic about continuing to build the future of Ogletree Deakins and supporting our clients in tomorrow’s challenges. These are very stimulating challenges.”

Paul Clair, New Partner at the Firm

With over 15 years of experience, Paul is recognized for his attention to detail, clear legal analysis, and dynamism. A member of the Paris Bar since 2010, Paul Clair holds a Master II in Labor Relations and Practices (DPRT) from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas. Before joining Ogletree Deakins in 2022 as Counsel, he spent over seven years as a senior associate in the employment law department of August Debouzy.

Paul Clair assists large international groups, French companies, and public institutions in all phases of the employment relationship, from hiring to contract termination. An expert in HR strategies and complex reorganizations, he manages collective redundancies, employment protection plans (PSE), collective termination agreements (RCC), and negotiates GEPC/GPEC agreements. He also handles business divestitures and company transfers. His expertise in labor relations law also extends to the public sector, including EPICs and EPAs.

He leads conferences on employment and case law updates and has been a cornerstone of the firm’s Labor & Employment Law Club “Club Droit Social” since its inception.
