Cécile Martin

Partner || Paris

Cécile Martin is the Managing Partner of the Ogletree Deakins Paris office. She advises clients on compensation policies (including material risk takers), discrimination and harassment litigation, corporate restructuring, mass redundancies plans as well as collective litigation. By starting her career at the French Data Protection Agency (CNIL), Cecile has developed leading edge skills particularly on topics related to GDPR employee monitoring at the workplace, whistleblowing alerts, social media use and international data transfer.

Cécile has been a member of the European Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) since 2016 and is also a member of the firm’s International and Data Privacy practice groups. She was ranked in 2017 and 2018 “Next Generation Lawyer” by Legal 500 and “Leading Individual” by Chambers (2017, 2018 and 2019). She lectures on data protection law at Paris La Sorbonne University and regularly provides training to companies regarding the compliance with the GDPR.

  • Advising a company in the banking sector on a proposed reorganization, and litigation against employee representatives and representative union organizations regarding the lack of prioritization in their consultation on strategic guidelines concerning the proposed reorganization;
  • Assisting an SBF (Paris Stock Exchange) 120 company in the implementation of a job protection plan for several hundred jobs;
  • Advising a leading banking group on the management of senior executives;
  • Advising various companies in the implementation of internal investigations into discrimination, harassment and whistleblowing (Sapin II Act);
  • Advising numerous companies on compliance of HR personal data processing with the GDPR, the law of 6 January 1978 and labor law;
  • Assisting various companies in litigation involving violations of equality and discrimination.
